What is the Free Digital Content, App or Open Educational Resource award?
This category is to reward exemplary free digital and online resources for teachers working in an educational institution at any age range or sector.
Why the SENDcast is a great free digital resource
The SENDcast is a free weekly podcast launched by B Squared, focusing on Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND). With over 200 episodes and 350,000 downloads, it serves as a valuable resource for educators and parents, keeping them informed about policy changes and best practices. Each episode features SEND experts discussing current topics and challenges, making it a go-to platform for timely information.
Designed to support educators, the SENDcast addresses real-world challenges, offering insights on topics ranging from classroom management to emotional regulation strategies. It also promotes parental engagement by discussing collaboration strategies, helping parents understand their child’s needs and navigate processes like the Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).
The SENDcast emphasises inclusivity, covering a wide array of SEND areas and ensuring accessibility through major platforms like Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Transcripts are available for those who prefer reading, accommodating different learning preferences.
The SENDcast team are extremely proud of the community we have created and it’s a privilege to help support everyone with expert SEND knowledge.
