Lou Barnes / Teacher, Trainer & Speaker – Unlock Learning
Lou Barnes worked as a dedicated primary school teacher for 20 years, where she loved nurturing young learners. However, year after year, she witnessed bright, creative children struggling with reading and writing, despite countless school interventions. Frustrated by the lack of lasting progress and disheartened by the damage to children’s confidence, she knew there had to be a better way.
Her search led her to Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), believing it could offer real solutions, Lou left full-time teaching to study NLP. She discovered how powerful the subconscious brain is – and how working with it could unlock reading and spelling for those who previously found it impossible. She finally understood why her students were struggling, and more importantly, how to help them succeed.
Over the past 15 years, Lou has blended NLP with her teaching expertise to create a unique two-part process that transforms how dyslexic children and adults learn. Through her business, Unlock Learning, she now works one-to-one to help learners gain the confidence and skills they once found out of reach. Passionate about her mission, she aims to share this life-changing approach as widely as possible.
